Goodbye Rob and good riddence!

Tonights game against OSU summed up The Evans Era. One of thier better players Kruger has a chance to take a 3 to tie the game but instead opts to throw the ball out of bounds.

Evans has brought ASU basketball to an all time low. I did not think it could get worse but he proved me wrong.

Just think if he did not play the cream puff out of conference schedule:
Southern Utah
Alcorn State
UC Santa Barbara
North Texas
Boise State
Northern Arizona
Utah Valley State - oh yeah they lost to this basketball power house.

They would have ended the season 5-22

Do you think Evans had some input into this early schedule? He know the only way to make people believe his program is good is to play the easy schedule. Cause he can't beat one good team in the PAC10 and most of the time he can't even beat the bad teams.

Maybe if the get a new coach they won't have to play thier Midnite Madness game in a local high school, because ASU thinks womens vollyball is more important then Mens Basketball.

When Frieder was here Midnite Madness was big. 8-9 thousand fans. Now they get 800 fans.

Yes. Another sub par year for Sun Devils hoops. It was time for Evans to go.

I heard rumors that Jamie Dixon at Pitt was on the top of your wish list for a replacement. If he took the job, that would mean going up against his former boss Ben Howland at UCLA regularly. That would be kinda cool. The only thing is that taking the job at ASU would be, in my humble opinion, just a lateral move for Dixon.

ASU coach Evans out after team finishes 11-17

Quote:
TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona State basketball coach Rob Evans will not return for a ninth season, the school announced Friday.

The announcement came a few hours after Evans, 59, had an hour-long meeting with ASU Athletic Director Lisa Love.

"I fully appreciate the efforts Rob and his staff gave in his eight years here," Love said at a news conference. "He accomplished many goals and will always be remembered as a great Sun Devil. His work ethic and professionalism will never be forgotten and always will be appreciated by the Sun Devil family."

Love did not say whether Evans had been fired or quit. She said the university would pay Evans for the final year of his contract.

Evans declined to answer a reporter's questions after his meeting with Love.

Evans spent eight seasons with the Sun Devils, compiling a 119-120 record.
ASU finished its season Wednesday night with a loss to Oregon State at the Pac-10 tournament in Los Angeles. The Sun Devils finished the year with a losing record of 11-17, and Evans' departure had been widely anticipated.

Love said a search for a successor would be immediately. She said she had a list of candidates in mind but would not identify them.
Hopefully they can find a decent coach now. I don't know what it is with ASU and bad coaching... maybe they are really in need of a new AD
