Arizona rankings

Last week - Arizona, 2-3 ranked 25th.
This week - Arizona, 4-3 receiving votes at 28th.

You win two games in a row and drop three spots. Gotta love the polling process.

I hear that Brady.... i have never understood that, you win games but yet still fall in the polls, but i guess the voters just thought that the cats didnt play quality teams and still struggled a little bit

You're right it has been a while, welcome back. But ya the polling process is an art I will probably never understand. It's tough to see the rational of the voters sometimes. If Arizona was going to dip out of the ratings, shouldn't it have been after they dropped to 2-3? nope, after they win a couple and start playing like a team again, that's when I will drop em out. lol just doesn't make sense to me.

Doesn't really amount to much anyway (at least not in basketball.... sorry Oregon fans). I think Arizona will get their act together and play some good ball before it really matters. Lute is too good of a coach to let the talent they have not play well.

no need to be sorry for Oregon fans...we are stinky at basketball. I'm ticked off on Zona's behalf, though. they got screwed in the polls on this one.

Ya the Ducks have some basketball trouble, but what I meant was that rankings don't matter in basketball right now like they did in football. i.e Oregon getting a bad rap in the BCS.

I just mean that it is early and there is plenty of time for a team that is struggling to come back and play well. The beginning of the season is when you are supposed to get the kinks out so you can hopefully finish up strong.

The Pac-10 does suck in basketball. Hopefully they can put on a good show in March.

Polls only matter in basketball if you are one of the bubble teams come tourney time. Even then, the top 30+ teams are gauranteed a spot. It is the second 30 that must be debated upon and that is where the RPI rankings come in. Also, polls probably help when actually seeding the teams for the tourney. But I have said this many times to friends, I would much rather see people debating who should be the 60th best team in the country as opposed to who is in the top 3, 4, 5, etc.

i think that the polls start to matter in late jan. when teams are gearing up for the big dance. as long as you make the big dance that is all that matters to most teams.

But the cats need to stop the off court distractions, like adams getting arrested for disorderly conduct at his apartment and jawaan being ineligable untill jan, the guys need to step up and cometogether as a team and play some arizona basketball if they do that i think that they will be unstoppable, but washington will as usual give them a hard test.
