"I refuse to let this program gravitate to mediocrity."

Excuse me for venting but....

"I refuse to let this program gravitate to mediocrity," Pederson said Sunday, 17 hours after he met with Solich at South Stadium and terminated a coach who had compiled a 58-19 record. "We will not surrender the Big 12 Conference to Oklahoma and Texas."
So after a 15-40 loss to...Kansas...where do we go now. The first win Kansas has over Nebraska in 36 years. Lately I've seen a lot of these streaks ended. This is getting sad, and Husker fans will not stand for it.

Husker football is an absoulte passion here..If you guys think you know and love college football, you'd be just a casual fan if you were in Nebraska. Right now the Huskers are standing at 5-4 and near the bottom of the disgusting Big XII North.

The question I have for you is, how does the nation...well at least the west coast view the Huskers now? Is it like, still the powerhouse and deeply traditional program who are having some off years...or just another team on the schedule.

I'm pretty sure that most people feel Nebraska as just another team..slipping into a middle of the line .500 team...very sad. Look out Coach Callahan..(I support you..but lots do not..). We need wins.

MEDIOCRITY.

The Huskers program is NOT medicore. I always respect their program - one year does not define a team. No team can stay on top forever.

Teams I also revere ( and even hate and envy at times): Oklahoma, Miami, Ohio State...and Nebraska has always been in that mix, for me, too.

Vent away, ASU Husker - you have every right - people are far too fickle these days.

A sad day for Husker Nation. Remember when OU was down, Nebraska was winning championships. Nebraska will be back probably sooner (no pun intended) than later.

I don't think Nebraska will ever be considered a mediocre program. I'm from Iowa so I know how serious the Cornhuskers take their football. They have one of the best programs in the history of college football and are just having a few rough years.

The one negative thing I will say, is that firing Solich was a huge mistake. He was a very good coach and was fired too soon. I almost feel sorry for anyone who coaches at Nebraska because they will never be able to live up to past expectations (see Tom Osborne).

I agree that firing Solich was bad..but he was a terrible recruiter. He's a good coach, but struggled with recruiting here at NU. Once Osborne's recruits were out of the system...the team dropped to 7-7 and since have been what they've been. I love Franky though...he's a great coach.. Ohio is lucky. (I ordered my Ohio Bobcats, "Got Frank?" shirt today after the loss. )

Don't get me wrong, I know that Huskers are a brilliant program with amazing tradtion..I was just check out what the rest of the nation thinks.

I'm just so super frustrated.. Up until this game we've been at least close and looking competitive..But in this MUST WIN game...we blew it BIG TIME.

Oh, and no one can live up to Tom Osborne in this state. He easily won a seat on congress..and he is running for govener in the next election. He'll win at least 90%-10%...He is a god in this state.. haha.
