aw come on, GoUCLA - it's as if you don't even know me.....

I have lots of Beaver friends and family. I root for the Beav's unless they play us or it interferes with our plans...OSU is 45 minutes away from UO - there's lot's of co-mingling going on up here. There's lots of people who are adamant about hating either team, too. But there's lots of folks like me who back their brother University. We are little universities up here - it's not really like what you experience w/ UCLA and USC.

Sorry to assume that but with UCLA/USC, there is--a lot--of dislike between the two schools. Bruins don't root for Trojans. Trojans don't root for Bruins. A day is not complete without the Bruins or Trojans losing and your team winning. That kind of stuff. I just assumed that it was the same way with the other Pac-10 schools. Good thing that you corrected me or else I would have gone on thinking what I was thinking.

I guess UCLA and USC is different....

I think what ULCA and USC have is pretty common. I'm not sure other rivals have the same dynamic as OSU and UO. It's just that the state of Oregon is so small that sometimes the loyalty of the state overtakes the rivalry...that and the co-mingling thing with friends and family.

And again, welcome OSU fan! This topic should really be totally devoted to you....sorry for the digression.

Hah, I guess we scared him away. I don't get why some people look around, read stuff, register, and then never post. Oh well... maybe he'll return.

or she....

I think it might be that there's too few dominant posters. They want to talk, then see none of their kind. Let's try bumping the diversity thread.

the UO guy is right, their are a lot of platypus's (mix beav and duck) out there...like he said oregon is a small state meaning 1. not much great achievement happens here so we have to root for all of our teams and 2. lots of our family members and friends go to the other school (ex my bro @uo) but dont get me wrong....the civil war and the rivarly is a fierce one...but when we're not playing eachother we root for eachother

I hear ya on that. I'm from Iowa and I root for both schools there. Since I'm transplanted in Tempe, I also root for Arizona most of the time... just not when they play ASU.
