I would love to see Iowa St. play UCLA! And I hope you're right about Oregon at Fiesta, but I just don't know if that will happen...after seeing Oregon stay at #10 in the BCS this week and having Notre Dame jump over to #9. How did that happen????????????? Last edited by Autzen Powers : 11-15-2005 at 06:50 PM.

There's a flaw If ND is in the Fiesta and Cal is in the sun bowl, then Stanford will not be bowl eligible. For ND to get the BCS spot they have to win 9 games, meaning beating Syr and Stan. If Cal loses to Stan, they will be Pac10 #4 or #5 depending on what ASU does against Ariz. Assuming this: UO beats OSU ASU beats AZ CAL beats Stan USC beats FUCLA ND beats Stan Rose: UT vs USC Fiesta: ND vs PSU or Bama (w/win) or OSU (w/win) then Oregon (Vtech out due to regional lack of interest) Holiday: UCLA vs ISU (or whatever) Sun: Cal vs crap big10 team Insight: ASU vs some other crap team Vegas: open If Oregon isn’t selected, everyone drops down a bowl. Needless to say (even if Oregon sucked this year) I will be rooting for whoever is playing the free-pass Irish for the next three games.

As for the rest of the games, it's going to be interesting to see how it all shakes out. There are an awful lot of deserving teams that could all go to January bowls. Regardless of what happens I have a feeling there will be many unhappy fans when the BCS bowls are all set.

This may be a stupid question, but does the presidential oversight committee have any influence on bowl selections? I don't mean literally, but do they have some sort of internal "nudge factor"? If so, it's interesting to see who's on the board. http://www.bcsfootball.org/index2.cfm?page=bios

Right now Oregon is a long shot for the Fiesta. Alabama and ND will be selected ahead of Oregon if they are both available for an at large berth. It is not fare, but the bowl system is a beauty contest after automatic selections are made and Oregon and Va Tech are the ugly Ducklings/Turkeys. No it is not right, but it is pure politics.
