The New Rules

So we have some new rules this year (including reviewable plays) and I wanted to know your thoughts on them. And I hoped someone could tell me about this situation:

Stanford had the ball. They threw and the receiver was in the process of being tackled. It wasn't clear if he had control of the ball and if it ended up being a fumble or not. The play was in the middle of the field. Oregon challenged the play, asking for a fumble. (Oregon had recovered it). The Ref's then checked their play book and said that it was not a reviewable play. Why?

I think they use the reviews too much but whatever

also I hate the kickoff time thing they did so that when the ball is kicked the clock starts

I think they should get rid of the clock stopping on 1st downs

I think the reason it wasn't a reviewable play was because you only get one - and the Ducks had already used it...although it might have been Stanford asking for the review. Don't know.

What do you think about them not stopping the clock for turnovers?

I think the reason they couldn't review that particular play even though it was a coaches challenge, is because it was considered a pass interference review. I didn't see it, but if the receiver was in the process of being tackled when he may or may not have had control, they don't check those.

I forgot, but about the clock not stopping on turnovers, kickoffs, etc. I don't like it at all.

The replay rule is good. Starting the clock when the ball is kicked and not when it is caught is probably OK too. I dislike the rule when the clock starts immediately when the ball is spotted after the change in possesion. Come on folks (NCAA), this is college not the NFL. You have a great product. Don't ruin a good thing.

I predict that the rule to not stop the clock after a turnover will cost somebody a football game this year. I'm okay with the rest.

The funny thing is that they are doing this to "speed up the game". Who got my permission? I like how long the games are - this is my church, man, don't mess with it!
