New Movies

oh, why not. What movies (new or rentals) have you seen lately that you've really liked. I just saw "Walk the Line" and was really impressed, especially with the singing...and I'm not a hick from Oregon, in fact, don't know much about Cash, but I thought the movie was pretty well done.

any gems out there? maybe indy movies?

You know, I'm a huge movie guy but lately I haven't seen much. The last movie I saw at the theatre was Saw II. I was a HUGE fan of Saw, and this one was still decent, but sequels are rarely as good as the first.

The last movies I rented were House of Wax, and Kicking and Screaming. I like horror and I like stupid humor, but both of those really sucked in my opinion.

I just couldn't do Saw. the trailer scared the crap out of me. But I did hear it was really good - I'm just too chicken.

I haven't seen many good movies in a long time. I saw kicking and screaming, too, and I didn't like it at all the first time. But then I got dragged to go see it again and I liked it much better the second time around, after I didn't care about the plot and after I just tried to enjoy Will Ferrel. Speaking of, I did end up renting Be-witched...and you can Be-warned....I turned it off half way through. It was AWFUL.

Movies I'm looking forward to seeing....Good night and Good Luck, Harry Potter and Narnia (I'm a sci-fi/fantasy nerd)

I heard that house of wax was number one the weekend it came out. I would just like to think that people really wanted to see Paris Hilton die. At least, that's the hope. "that's hot".

Ok so i'm a fan of scary movies and it got to me... I have to admit! But still it was pretty cheesy. Or should I say waxy.. haha i'm a dork.. But I did see Paris in person this past week at the American Music Awards and at a club on Sunset Blvd. She was making out with some dude.. must be her new yucky man that the tabloids are talking about. She does make a good target for about anything... and yes she does suck as an actress.

ooooh, rootie, you have to help a girl out. Was he really gross? The guy she was making out with? (oh, you know you guys wanna know, too.)

2 years ago, my sis and I saw Identity and then we saw 28 days later, so we made a pact to see one scary movie a year. ( we thought we were tough seeing these flicks, you see This year we saw that lame ass movie w/ Kate Hudson, thinking it could be scary...didn't scare us at all.

I can take the fake scary movies, but Saw just looked too "serial killer" like... a little like 7. I came close to actually throwing up at 7 in the theatre, when sloth wasn't dead at all and coughed. And after seeing Silence of the Lambs, I had nightmares for a week....yes, I am a pussy.

Would Saw screw me up for a long time? Or is it worth a see?

Saw has some graphic scenes in it but it really isn't all that scary. Saw is more of a suspense movie that makes you think about stuff after you watch it. It's more like a Silence of the Lambs kind of movie, not so much Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

You know, I didn't get to see Paris' kissing buddy up close, but if it's the guy she's dating or whatever, he's not all that good looking. Besides by that time of the night, my beer goggles were on and the club was pretty dark.

Also, from a girls perspective on Saw II, i'd say it isn't that bad. I had to close my eyes a few times cause of some of the gross stuff they showed, but it wasn't one of those jumping in your seats kinda movies. Like Brady said, it was more suspense and made you think what you would do if you were in that situation. Now the movie that really got to me was Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Maybe cause it is a true story, i'm not sure. But that movie scared the crap outta me!

I enjoy a good scary movie every now and then, yet nothing has really peeked my interest. The last good scary movie I saw was several years ago, and damnit I can't think of the name........you know, "I see dead people" that movie. Silence of the Lambs was awesome, Seven was pretty damn good too.

Last moive I watched was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It was good, not great. I was sitting next to a gal who couldn't shut up during the whole movie. She kind of ruined it for me and the 100 other moviegoers. The only movie I think I would like to see that is coming out in the next few weeks would be King Kong. I loved The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and if Jackson gives Kong half as much effort as he did Rings, then Kong should be good.

You're thinking of The 6th Sense with the whole "I see dead people" quote

Yeah Lord of the Rings were definalty one of my favorites. I didn't realize that the same director is doing King Kong. Not sure if that's on the top of my list. I just got done watching Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. I know none of you guys out there would really care to see it, but I really liked it! Come on Brady, you can vouch for me that it was good, right??

some chick flicks are okay - but I haven't seen a good one in awhile. What I've been dying to see lately is a realy good suspense thriller. Haven't seen a good one since the Usual Suspects and Momento. I went through the whole Hitchcock phase but there really hasn't been someone good like that in ages. Recommendations?

well I for one, think you are a total smart-ass, fd44. Afterall, you "claim" you like ND and that just MUST be a joke btw, being a smart-ass kicks butt. keep up the good fight.

movies - so since none of us have seen any really good ones lately - do you guys have any favorite obscure ones that would be worth a rent? like maybe a not so well known cult classic? The last weird one I rented, but I really liked was Kung Fu Hustle. I got some good laughs at the spoofs and the action scenes were pretty good.
