Mascots

what do you think?

Of the "in person" mascots, which one is the best and which one needs a make-over?

Best: Trojans - how can you beat that armor?

Needs a make-over: I have to say the Cardinal, only because I don't even know what the mascot is. Little help?

Mascots - the good and the bad.

Best - ASU Baby!! Ya gotta love Sparky. He even has his own hand sign and a pitchfork. Can't get much better than that. USC isn't too shabby either.

Worst - Tie OSU and UO. Maybe the costumes are ok but a Beaver and a Duck?? Like and respect both teams, but the mascots aren't so hot.

Does Oregon still have that..I dont know.."Super" Duck mascot.. I remember it being like almost a skin tight suit or something and it looked like this super futuristic "Alien v. Predator' Duck. Haha hillariously bad mascot if it's still there..
Please tell me this isn't at Oregon anymore...

All the Pac-10 mascots seem pretty generic, none really seem to stick out to me. Sparky is just so-so as far as mascots go.

EDIT: Now with picture.

Haha, we always hear it about our "mascot." Truth is, the Stanford Tree isn't the teams' mascot. It's the band's mascot. The athletic teams don't have an official mascot (hard to have a mascot when your team name is a color).

I believe Duck Vader has been retired by the UO. He wasn't very popular and hasn't been seen since the year he was introduced. Meanwhile, how can you guys not like Oregon's traditional mascot, Donald Duck. I don't remember the exact year or details, but the President of the University and Walt Disney (THE Walt Disney), met one year and agreed on a hand shake that the UO could use Donald Duck as the school mascot. You don't see Donald much outside of sporting events because the school and Disney Corp. recently formalized their agreement that Duck gear with images of Donald cannot be sold outside the Eugene and Portland metro areas. This also explains why Donald no longer appears on Oregon's unis and was the major motivation behind the new "O" logo. The "O" is now the most recognizable symbol of Oregon athletics.

I change my vote:

Vader Duck is worse than not having a mascot. I forgot about that one. I think it scared the children. I know it scared me.

oh yeah, and I do love Donald Duck as our mascot - and the legendary hand shake story that officially set the deal. You don't see the "my word is stronger than oak" hand shakes these days. (of course that didn't even pan out in the movie)

Oh and Cardinalsinner - I remember hearing stories of the controversial Stanford Indians growing up - I went to Stanford games as a child. Do you remember when the change happened?
