The BCS Got It Right? Tell That to Oregon

Today's quiz: Who got screwed more on Sunday, Ron Jeremy or Oregon's football team? Answer: The Ducks got ... well, you know, f'd.

One of the more interesting thing I think I noticed through this whole debate is how it almost seemed to me that the media had it all decided before anything was set in stone. I wonder if the national media was more in Oregon's corner, if that wouldn't have changed things (before VT and LSU lost). I wonder if seeing the nation's reaction isn't part of the decision making process. Or if the media was just stating the obvious - knowing how these things work.

But I felt like it was over before 12/4, just by what I was reading online.

The other frustrating thing is that there is so much more pressure on Oregon and pac-10 teams to win bowl games. If either OSU or Notre Dame loses, I doubt anyone will blink an eye - and I doubt we'd here about it next year. Wheras if Oregon loses, it will never be forgotten.

It's all about the following. How many fans does Oregon State take to a bowl game when they do go? Why do you think Iowa moved up to the Outback Bowl? It's about the fan base and the $$$$ they bring to the host site. Like it or not that's also why Notre Dame and Ohio State get better bowls.

Both UO and Oregon St travel real well. They are probably the best traveling teams in the Pac-10. What pays for the show is TV ratings and that is the most significant factor when determining bowl match-ups. I think some bowls would have no problem if the QBs drunk mother and her six obese and toothless kids were the only people in the stands as long as TV ratings were 8+.

Go-Pac is right. None of the general public even got a stab at the tickets to the holiday bowl - they were all sold out by season ticket holders and donors.

Since we all know it's about the money, it must be the TV ratings - or perceived TV ratings? How would the BCS know who would watch it unless you guaged the national media and the public's response/interest? Sure you could go off of past bowl appearances -but every year is different. And don't you think everyone would watch Notre Dame anyway - no matter who played? Wouldn't this game get tons of viewers regardless of whether they played the OSU or Oregon? That's why I think it's the nation's perception of "team recognition" more than anything that doomed Oregon from the beginning.

Cableguyfan...you DO realize there's a difference between Oregon and Oregon State, don't you? Sorta like there's a difference between Iowa and Iowa State or Michigan and Michigan State or... well, you get the picture.
