I think that last year's team was an anomoly for the Ducks (under Bellotti) for 2 key reasons:

1) Personal tragedy - before they played the first game a team member was murdered - and several family deaths of players followed.
2) Offensive coordinating - Clemens was reported at the beginning of this year saying that the guys would roll their eyes in the huddle after being given a play

It's too bad that one losing season marr's a football team's reputation so badly, especially given Bellotti's record as a coach.

I think offensive coordinating was the biggest issue. Look how Utah fared under Ludwig. Utah had a huge drop off in offensive production. It was time for a change.
