Rouillard Advances to U.S. Women's Amateur

VANCOUVER, Wash. - University of Oregon women's golf head coach Shannon Rouillard made a successful return to the USGA amateur circuit as a player Wed., July 12 and qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur next month at Pumpkin Ridge in Portland, Ore. At the Northwest's only qualifying event, the seventh-year Duck women's golf head coach shot a 77 and tied for third place on the par-73, +6,200-yard Royal Oaks Country Club at the end of regulation. To help decide the final five qualifiers from the six-way tie, she shot par on her first playoff to automatically advance, while the playoff extended several more holes to settle the remaining positions. Overall, Christine Song won the event (73) by two strokes over Kristen Svicarovich (second, 75). "I hadn't competed at this level in seven years, so I wasn't focused on other players, more just on what I could control," Rouillard said.
