EUGENE -- University of Oregon football coach Mike Bellotti officially opened his 12th season as the school’s head coach when he welcomed 101 players for the start of practice for the 2006 season Monday as the Ducks seek an encore to last year’s 10-2 finish. Oregon will hold split practice sessions for the first four days this week, with this year’s newcomers to be joined by approximately 29 returnees for a two-hour workout beginning at 12:15 p.m. The remainder of the veterans, including 13 returning starters from a year ago, will take to the practice field at 4:30 p.m. through Thursday. The full squad will come together for the first day in pads on Friday with the first of six two-a-day workouts slated for Saturday.
