BEIJING, China - In the fourth day of the World Junior Championships, University of Oregon freshmen Rebekah Noble claimed the bronze medal in the women's 800 meters final, held Friday at the National Olympic Sports Center. The first American ever to make the event final, Noble finished third (2:04.90), and was only .38 seconds behind the winner -Eastern European Cristea Olga of Moldova (first, 2:04.52) - and Chebet Winny of Kenya (second, 2:04.59). Olga utilized a strong kick on the final straightaway to hold off the hard-charging Winny. Noble - the fastest runner in the field based on season bests (2:02.07) - relied on her trademark second-lap surge to challenge for the title.
