PROVO, Utah - Junior Tommy Skipper and freshman Rachel Yurkovich paced the University of Oregon track and field teams in first day action Friday in the NCAA West Regional Championships at Clarence E. Robison Track on the Brigham Young University campus. Yurkovich opened the women's javelin competition with a throw of 161-8 that led the field for most of the meet until Fresno State junior Mallory Webb improved more than four feet on her final throw to finish as the runner-up (163-3). Luckily for Yurkovich she had also improved the previous series on her fifth throw with her daily best (165-7), and her series follows - 161-5 (49.28m), 159-11 (48.47m), 151-1 (45.75m), 165-7 (50.48m) and 156-9 (47.79m).
