Jayne Appel scored 12 of her 14 points in the second half, including a go-ahead basket with 36 seconds left, and No. 8 Stanford beat Southern California 56-53 Sunday to win the Pac-10 title. Brooke Smith added 12 points for the Cardinal and Kristen Newlin had 10.
