UA @ LSU

LSU has gotten very lucky vs the Pac Ten latley, will they again vs UA?

LSU got lucky to NOT play USC in 2003, they got lucky that Serna can't make a damn kick vs OSU in 2004 and got lucky vs ASU last year

and SEC added: only Vanderbilt plays a game outside of the south (@Michigan) of all the SEC teams...what a f'ing joke

Although I really hate the SEC, I think they will probably be in the top 3 conferences as far as strength goes. I actually think Arizona and LSU could be a pretty good matchup. The fact that Arizona plays @ LSU is pretty rough though. That has to be one of the loudest stadiums in the country.

LSU got very lucky, but good teams generate their own luck and the SEC will be a very strong conference this year. With that said though, I will be laughing my buttocks maximus off when a good undefeated or one loss SEC team fails to reach the BCS title game because their non-conference schedule features Hawaii, Louisiana-Monroe, and Florida International (see Alabama).

I didn't compile this list but someone did and I thought I would cut and paste it:

Somebody has a lot of time on their hands but this is pretty cool. Check out the SEC's non conference schedules.

Florida plays Southern Miss, Central Florida and Western Carolina.
Georgia plays Western Kentucky, UAB and Colorado (home game for Georgia)
S. Carolina plays Florida Atlantic, Wofford and Middle Tennessee
Alabama plays Hawaii, ULM???? and Duke and Florida INTL
Auburn plays Tulane, Arkansas State and WSU (Tulane? Do they have a team?)
LSU plays UL Laf, Arizona, Tulane and Fresno State - probably the most
difficult schedule of them all, but they're all at home.

Pathetic.

They are all really bad... but this is borderline ridiculous. I expected more from the Ol' ball coach. I hope they lose by 30 to Wofford.

exactly my point, the only teams the south plays is like cal and arizona..but they're at home (and the ONE road game out of the south with vandy going to michigan)

sec=east coast bias at its finest, does espn EVER mention that the sec never leaves the south? no....and the pac ten has to travel in order to get ANY respect (and we dont get much)...BS

wow - that's a cream puff loaded non-conference schedule for most of those teams. But I guess the PAC-10 just really needs to win these "tougher" teams like Tennesse in order to prove that we can hang with the best of them. Until then, we'll likely see the same thing happen w/ the BCS year after year. And we have to win our BOWL GAMES!

Oh, and what up DoUCLA!

Autzen is exactly right. It is good to schedule these tough teams and it makes for a lot of hype and often good TV, but the Pac must win these intersectional games. Outside of SC, most people east of the Rockies think football teams out west are soft.

Stoops was just yelling at one of his coaches - will we see a coaching change mid-season here?

I imagine that coach wasn't the only one who was yelled at after that disgraceful showing

I'm glad I missed most of the game. Judging by the highlights I don't think I could have stomached it, especially after the fiasco in Boise.

Hehe the pac ten just got pasted three straight games, with no sure win in sight.

Who's to say that as bad as this conferences's teams have proven to be, that Florida Atlantic, Wofford and Middle Tennessee couldn't put a pasting on most the pathetic ten teams out there?

The location the SEC plays its games at is the only current argument the 'anti-SEC' crowd have to berate the conferences success. They certainly can't argue with the results.

And why do SEC schools play so many home games? Pure and simply: money.

The top tier teams in the SEC each have one of the largest stadiums in the country, from 65, 000 to over a 100, 000 seats avaliable. Not to mention the lavish luxury box seating for season ticket holders.

Outside of the SEC, few teams in few conferences can match this. Which is why the teams they schedule agree to come play there. They quite simply get far more money for playing on the road than they ever could at home.

When a team does indeed have a good stadium that makes a road game worthwhile, SEC schools are quite happy to travel, it's something the players look forward to.

LSU, for example, has travelled to Arizona, Arizona State, and USC in your conference. Other teams have had home and away agreements as well.

But why would Tennessee for example, make a home and away agreement with California? They make so much money playing at their 100,000+ seat stadium, it'd be a huge hit in the pocketbook for both teams to play at Cal's smaller, dilapidated eyesore of a stadium.

That's just the facts. There's no hate here for the Pac Ten, just disdain for any claims of superiority, in the face of the conferences numerous and visible shortcomings.
