Antionio Davis

I'm sure we've all seen how NY Knicks Anionio Davis rushed into the stands to protect his wife after she was touched by an intoxicated man. He didn't throw any punches or anything but he was suspended for 5 games.

Know what I have to say to that? GOOD! He should be suspended. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should any professional athlele be rushing into the stands for ANY REASON. You know, give him his props for protecting his wife and such...but my God, you've gotta stay out of the stands. Professional sports are a family event and we can't have these athletes doing this sort of thing. We do NOT need another Artest melee.

On a side note, I very much dislike the NBA in general and my Trailblazers are at the bottom of the pack .Bleh. heh.

I agree. When doubt, call security and they will escort the offender out.

ASU, you like the Blazers? How did that happen? They are my favorite team, but I live in Portland.

Heard this news on the radio. Interesting situation. NBA may have to ban alcoholic drinks at games due to the "Basketbrawl" and now this.

I doubt they'd ever fully ban drinking - but can they drink in the stands? That might help if they weren't able to drink inside. It might cut down on the incidents a bit. That's a disgrace either way. That's another reason it's hard for me to get into watching the NBA - a lot of the players have gone insane with ego.

go Blazers. That's who I root for too, of course. But they aren't very interesting.

Wow, I really was into the NBA. I despised the Lakers during the wee years of the new millenium. I was so damn happy when the Lakers lost to the Spurs in '03. My favorite team was Orlando w/Tracy McGrady. When Jordan came back that was big. I still dislike Kobe to this day but not as much. The NBA is quickly losing its appeal. I only watch All-Star Weekend, mainly for the slam dunk competition and some of the Playoffs.

College>Professional (in terms of appeal)

ASU Husker, I see what you're saying, but completely disagree. Even when he thought his family was in danger, no punches were thrown, and he kept a level head. If I see anyone verbally or physically assaulting a female in public, no matter the circumstances, God help them.
As far as drinking in the stands, yes you can. I sat courtside during the timberwolves game and the waitress will bring you whatever you want. Whether it a beer or a shot of Jack.
As far as security, they're just like everyone else. Most of them way over age, and under qualified. It's nice to think they might do something, but I
(6'4" 240) could honestly pick them up and throw them if I wanted to.
Bottom line is fans need players, players need fans. The fans are pushin the envelope, not the players. How can we fix this?

uoduck, I agree that the women needs to be helped in that situation, I just do not think the player had any right what so ever to do what he did. There were SEVERAL other people at that game who could have and proabaly would have helped her had it escalated into anything. Admireable yes, not a good image for the NBA (or any pro-sport) though.

Eh, I've been a Jail Blazers fan ever since my brother moved out to Portland. I never really had a 'favorite NBA team' so the Blazers kinda stuck to me and I've loved them ever since. Now if they could just start winning some games..I'd love to goto a game at the Rose Garden sometime though..so much fun.

I think I am kinda with uoduck25 on this one. I don't want to see another Artest incident, but security at those games is ridiculous. If I saw someone I viewed as a threat messing with my girlfriend, mom, etc. I would probably be up there just as fast. I didn't see what happened so I don't really know, but it seemed he was there to protect and diffuse the situation, not to cause harm. I'll have to keep my eye on ESPN.

Note: Did anyone see the fan get bodyslammed by a Steeler player when he ran out on the field like a jackass? that was the funniest replay I have seen in a long time.

yeah i am a big seahawks fan and a bandwagon sonics fan, but if neither team existed, i would be completely content with watching my cougs and gonzaga(i am from spokane) play, instead of pro sports.
