Emerald Bowl

UCLA vs. Florida State any thoughts? I like to think UCLA will pull this one out with their momentum and talent, but they were pretty inconsistant this year. Florida State is terrible, but they are capable of big wins. I'm going UCLA 31, Florida State 23.

This should be a UCLA victory. Karl stated that the Bruins are beginning a new season after the loss to Cal. The Bruins are 3-0 so far and looking to go 4-0. Every game prior, ancient history. This has been a different UCLA team the past three games and a better one at that. If we beat SC then there is no reason whatsoever why we should lose to mediocre Florida State. The game is in San Fran, in California, thousands of miles away from Tallahassee. It will be a predominantly UCLA crowd. Expect a low scoring defensive affair due to defense being the best aspect of both teams. I'm not big on predicting scores but if UCLA held SC to 9 then conventional wisdom says FSU will score less than that. UCLA is a program on the up, FSU is in free fall.

A victory in the Emerald Bowl will be a huge springboard to the next season where UCLA returns 19 of 22 starters including 10 on an already stellar defense. The place of Hickman will be some big shoes to fill though.

You have my belief Karl for the first time. Please don't shatter it.

It's clearly obvious that UCLA's season ended with the win over SC.....

It's really hard being a UCLA football fan. One moment you are jumping for joy, the next moment you are grieving over what you see transpiring on the field. That's the way its always been and from the looks of it that's the way it's gonna be for a long time. And so until I see that BCS bowl victory, because NCs are still wayyy out of our reach, I am not getting my hopes up when it comes to UCLA football.

Now basketball is a different story...

Ugh, what happened to the Bruins in the second half? All the sudden Cowan can't hit an open guy and makes costly mistakes. He looked great in the first half.

Wow.

They played 3/4 of a game and could not finish. Our defense which stepped up against ASU, OSU, and USC simply could not stop the speed of FSU.

Dorrell is still a coach learning on the spot and hopefully he learns from this loss and figures out a way to get his teams to finish strong. That's how we lost to Notre Dame and Washington and almost let USC back into the game as well.
