Next up...Gonzaga

People on other forums (Zag fans in particular) are arguing that Morrison is just going to go off on us. I have argued that the way our defense has been playing the last 10 games, there is no way he is going to have a huge scoring game. He may be a great offensive player but he has yet to see a solid defense like ours especially in that weak conference they're in.

We could possibly render him a non factor by getting him in foul trouble since his defense is suspect.

We need to figure out a better way to attack a zone. More dribble penetration and kick outs. Perhaps forcing some turnovers and getting out in transition.

Ought to be a great game but I see us coming out on top. We need to get some revenge for that loss against them in '99.

I would be willing to guess he'll at least get 20+. Anyone who shoots 30-40 times in a game better score a lot. Anyway I agree the UCLA defense will step up to the challenge. Morrisson is certainly a great player, but as a team I think UCLA is more complete. ...on the the elite 8.

I still firmly believe that Gonzaga is truly an over-rated team and that UCLA will handle them with ease...

I dunno about handling them with ease. They're both great teams with factors that outweigh each other relatively well. UCLA has two amazing players and has an all-around good game (including the above mentioned defense). Then again though, Morrison is a phenom and you gotta be kidding me if you don't think that even Jim Calhoun would be worried to face these Zags.

I'm also leaning a bit toward UCLA but it doesn't mean that Gonzaga doesn't have the ability to win this championship if it brought it's best game.

Actually, this is the one game that I'm really looking forward to watching. I think UCLA will win and I obviously have to root for the Pac, but if I'm going to win my office pool, Gonzaga must win out. I have mixed feelings.

i think that ucla is definitly the best defensive team in the nation, hands down. and as we can see, the pac ten probably was better top to bottom than the big ten this year and was way underrated. however, you do have to give props to gu for thier preseason scheduling. something ucla doesn't have alot of credibility on. i think its also going to be tough to beat a team who hasn't lost for 20 games. we'll see how it goes, but i think gonzaga wins a thriller in the last couple of minutes by shooting good free throws, something ucla couldn't do last week. gu 68 - ucla 65

True. He injured his left thumb in the Alabama game. It's his non-shooting hand and it doesn't sound too serious. He is practicing with the hand in a brace.

Correction: it's his left wrist and thumb that are swollen. He also has a minor injury to the right wrist also. It occurred while trying to break his fall in the Bama game. The MRI was negative. He is planning on playing with a brace on (so not just in practice). That's not sounding too good.

I hope it doesn't make a big difference in the game... hate to see injuries especially now. Then again, if anyone can play through pain it's Farmar.

HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. You have to be kidding me. What an amazing game. I never gave up hope for them but I certainly didn't expect an ending like that. What a game... to the Elite 8 we go.

Phenomenal. When it came down to it, in the end it was a key defensive play that won UCLA the game. Nice to see that happen.

YEAHHHHH BABY!!! We're one of the elite!!!

We might just roll on through the tourney to the promised land! Much like that sad SC game and then going on a (now) 10 game tear, maybe that 1st half tonite was like getting that crap out of our system and we can now start running like a fine tuned machine, a la Pac 10 tourney.

Well, at least that's my hope...

You know, it was difficult watching that game because I was torn by my Regional vs Pac 10 affiliation.

It was also painful to listen to that Gonzaga cheerleader who was constantly screaming the same scream at the top of her lungs the entire first half every time the Bruins had the ball. Fortunately she either moved or one of the UCLA players shoved a jock strap in her mouth. So freakin irritating. I hope CBS has their sound man patrolling the sidelines with a mallet for future casts.
