Advantage: USC or Nebraska

Who do you think has the advantage? USC with an off week to prepare for Nebraska, or Nebraska with 2 actual games, err practices, with a couple cupcakes...(Lousiana Tech and Nichollas State) which if all goes as planned should get Nebraska in decent rythm.

I don't think that Nebraska is going to be showing too many of the cards they are going to play against USC...but I think the game experience is invaluable. Callahan and co. WILL be preparing for USC from DAY 1. If I were USC, I would sure as heck rather have Booty or Sanchez with an extra game under their belts before the Blackshirts bring the pain to town.

However.. Nebraska hasn't exactly been road warriors under Callahan and home field advatange could trump all come Setp. 16th.

Thoughts?

I think without a doubt, playing two games against cupcakes is much better than having the off week. It will allow them to get their rythm back, and probably get Zac Taylor noticed nationwide. I was really impressed with his accuracy late last year. However, USC is at home and other than their QB situation, they have superior talent.

I think Nebraska is underrated to start the season, and USC is overrated. Overall it should be a solid matchup, but I will probably have to give the advantage to USC.

According Belloti, the biggest improvement during a football season is between games 1 and 2. Everything after that is incremental. USC will have played a much improved Arkansas team in Arkansas vs Nebraska's two cup cakes. I think it wil be a wash. I give the game to USC because they are playing in SC and I think Nebraska will need their defense, which should be very good, to win the game for them. I don't see it happening. But then again, with my prognosticating abilities, I just signed the death warrant for USC. In fact, if you guys were smart, you would bet against me and you would be surprised at how fast you would become millionares.

I think the whole road game atmosphere the Huskers will see against USC will be a HUGE factor..and Nebraska will need to rely on their defense. Huske--ok I'm just gonna say "we" from now on. We can't let this game get high scoring if we want to compete with USC. I think our defense might be able to rattle who ever is starting for USC with such little game experience. If Nebraska is gonna win, look for it to be on the backs of the Blackshit defense.

For USC they will need to score early and not let Nebraska get into any passing rythm...and never look back from there.

As we are talking about betting at last time I checked USC was 12 point favorites. I'd jump all over that line if I were a gambling man.

Either way its gonna be a great early season battle.. Can't wait to see how the Huskers play over there.

(Sorry to bring my Husker favoritism into the Pac-10 message board, but I will be a student there this fall. Still love the Pac10 tho just as much and Arizona State. )

SC will pass all over Nebraska and win by around two TDs, not a blow out but not a classic

Possible, the Husker secondary is young and def. the weakest portion of the defense.
