USC Basketball: Sleeping Giant

Well it seems after last year and now this year the USC program is in full swing. I've said it for years, they are a national power in the waiting. A private school, all the resources needed, the best athletic college city, a premier conference, exposure from other sports and now a new sports arena. (and that is just some of the reasons USC has a very good chance at dominating)

If Nick Young and Gabe Pruitt come back for their senior seasons can you imagine? Oj Majo, Taj Gibson, Pruitt, Young....thats a Pac Ten title team right there

Then they also have super-stud Brandon Jennings coming in for 2008, who like Oj Mayo is the #1 point guard prospect in his class.

Anyone know what happened to Davon Jefferson? Did he go to prep school? Does that mean he'll also be at USC?

They beat Oregon today at the Pit, and are now 2-1 in the Pac Ten with 3 very close games, with the playmakers they have I could see them making a deep run in March

Tim Floyd is a phenominal coach at the collegiate level. He took a terrible Iowa State team and turned them around quickly into a team that could go deep into the tourney. With the resources available at USC, and his recruiting ability, there is no doubt in my mind he will turn USC into a national power.

I totally agree. After seeing them beat the Ducks yesterday they are for real. They can shoot lights out, all of them. Gibson is a monster! Young and Pruitt are NBA caliber players. They are gonna win a lot of games for a long time.

I don't think Mayo will be around for more than a year though.

Mayo will be gone after year 1, but then they bring in Jennings who could be just as good.
